Woman commits suicide inside church
Scovia Akankunda, a regular attendee of Depths Ministries Church, poisoned herself to death within the church after pastor Daniel Bukenya refused to return Shs 16 million that he had reportedly misappropriated from her.
Following Akakunda’s passing, a number of other enraged Christians in the Ibanda municipality attempted to vandalize the church, forcing police to respond with tear gas and gunshots. The church can be found in Bufunda Division’s Kafunjo cell.
Colman Mulonde, the LC I chairperson of Kafunjo cell, claims that the priest took out a loan from the deceased, promising to reimburse him in two months. Mulonde clarified that Akankunda frequently attended Depths Ministries’ prayers.
The demonstrators asked that the accusations made against Bukenya be investigated and that the church be held accountable for its role in noise pollution. Ssaza market trader Emily Musiimenta asserted that Bukenya had been enticing ladies to give him money for prayer services by claiming to be able to lift curses and shield their companies from negative influences.
As the inquiry into the matter continues, Bukenya is being actively searched for, according to Samson Kasasira, the spokesperson for the Rwizi Region police. According to him, the deceased’s body is being held in Ruhoko Health Center IV until a postmortem examination can confirm the rumors t
