Schedule And Venues For TSC CBC Training Per County
From October 2 to October 13, 2023, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will start retraining teachers in Grade 7 courses for the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) and Competency Based Assessment (CBA). Using a sophisticated cascade model, the training process will first train Master Trainers, who will then train Trainers of Trainees (TOTs). In addition to offering professional assistance, these Master Trainers will train teachers in person.
Here are the key dates and participants for the training:
1. Master Trainers (regular and SNE) will undergo training at KISE from October 2 to 4. Participants will be selected from various institutions, including TSC, KICD, KNEC, KEMI, CEMASTEA, MoE, KISE, and TTCs.
2. On October 6 and 7, TTCs and County chosen sites will host training sessions for TOTs (both regular and SNE). CSOs, TTC Teacher Educators, MoE QAS, and TSC SCDs will all be represented at this level.
3. At TTCs and county-selected venues from October 9 to October 13, teachers will get retooling in topic clusters. Teachers of languages, science, math, the humanities, and technical courses will all benefit from this instruction.
The training process will involve the following activities to enhance teacher capacity:
– Master Trainers will train the Trainers of Trainers (TOTs), including Curriculum Support Officers, Teacher Educators (Tutors), TSC sub-county Directors, and MoE Quality Assurance Officers, over 2 days.
– TOTs will conduct face-to-face training for teachers over a period of 5 days.
– Master Trainers will provide professional support during teacher training.
Participants from the ASAL (Mandera, Lamu, Wajir, Garissa, Tanariver, Isiolo, Marsabit, Samburu, Turkana, Marsabit, and West Pokot) and SNE will receive residential training; however, participants from other groups will not receive residential training. TTCs and particular counties’ locations will serve as the venues.
