Genesis Of Gachagua Fall Out With CS Kuria
A hint was made on Sunday by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua regarding the origin of the disagreement with Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria. Speaking at an ACK St. James Cathedral church service in Kiambu County, Gachagua—who is currently in a supremacy dispute with CS Kuria regarding Mt. Kenya kingpin status—alluded to a falling out between the two after Gachagua backed Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi for the top county position in the run-up to the general elections of 2022.
During that period, Kuria was running for Kiambu Governor alongside Patrickv “Jungle” Wainaina, William Kabogo, the leader of the Tujibebe Party, and James Nyoro, the immediate past governor.
They finally fell short against Wamatangi, though. “All those who vied against Wamatangi hate me to date for supporting him,” Gachagua said. In an attempt to instigate political turmoil, the Deputy President charged CS Kuria with building mountains out of anthills.
“I don’t have time to wish for an other job. He said, “I have a lot of work to do and no time for that nonsense about kingship.” Gachagua insisted that he is now focusing on assisting President William Ruto in providing for Kenyans. Speaking during the same church session, Gachagua shrugged off the notion that he wants to take over as the Mt Kenya Kingpin from former President Uhuru Kenyatta. “I read the entire constitution, and I did not see the kingpin’s function. How much does the kingpin get paid, and where is his office located?” He inquired.
In addition, Gachagua promised to end the leadership disputes in Kiambu that have the potential to sabotage the devolved unit’s service delivery. “The President has told me we can not let Kiambu go to the dogs and I have set aside the whole day tomorrow until Kiambu speaks in one voice,” he said.
