Katanga’s wife faces murder accusations from the DPP
Molly Katanga faces murder charges from Jane Frances Abodo, the director of public prosecutions, for the alleged death of her husband Henry Katanga.
On November 2, Katanga was shot dead with a pistol inside their master bedroom at Mbuya Hill.
Following their investigations, police investigators opted to gather reports from two accounts after discovering two hints.
One suggested a potential suicide, while the other suggested murder. But it was discovered via inquiries that Katanga’s body had been transported from the bedroom into the sitting room.
Investigations showed that the deceased’s daughter and the shamba youngster George Amanyire were involved in a planned attempt to destroy the evidence. Dr. Charles Otai was reportedly also summoned in an effort to hide the death appear to be a suicide.
After compiling evidence, the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Directorate of Forensic Science (DFS) agreed to submit the evidence to the DPP to decide the fate of every suspect in the murder. Jacqueline Okui, the DPP spokesperson today Tuesday confirmed that murder charges have been slapped against Molly.
Okui also explained that Patricia Kakwanza and Martha Katanga Nkwanzi have been charged with destroying evidence for tampering with the murder scene. Tricia Katanga who was called in later after the murder had happened has not been charged with any offence. She will perhaps appear as a witness against her mother and sister.
“Furthermore, the DPP has sanctioned the charge of accessory after George Amanyire and Charles Otai,” Okui said.
Molly allegedly gave Amanyire the order to assist Nkwanzi in moving the body from the bedroom into the sitting room.
One of the princes of the Ankole kingdom, Katanga’s wife Molly is a close relative of important government and security figures, and they allegedly did everything in their power to keep her from being charged with murder.
