The servers were accessible for forensic analysis by the independent auditors, according to IEBC ICT director Michael Ouma, who testified before the National Dialogue Committee (NDCO).
“I want to say that the servers are available for forensic audit, yes, I confirm, at any time, and that they were used to process the exact replica of the physical forms that are available,” he said.
The National Dialogue Committee team inquired about the basis on which the organization would be required to open the servers, and the IEBC Secretariat responded with the assurance.
Cecily Mbarire raised the question, “I’ve heard people say open the server. Under what circumstances would you open the server, and is there a legal structure permitting that to happen or not?
The commission stated that it was confident in the validity of the data available on the servers and that the data there and on the physical forms are identical.
“We are confident that if an audit is conducted, you will now be seeing those forms and the servers used to process them, and confirm if those images of the forms we have 46,2001 of them are the exact replica as one signed in the polling places,” the statement reads.
Raila Odinga, the leader of Azimio la Umoja, has repeatedly called for the servers to be opened for inspection and accused the IEBC of electoral fraud.
The server’s development began following the announcement of the presidential election results, following the bitter fallout between the IEBC Commissioners in the Bomas of Kenya
