Kitui Policewoman Arrested for Robbery With Violence
After being implicated in a violent robbery case, a female police officer was detained by her coworkers. On Friday, September 22, the cop was taken into custody in Kitui County.
The individual is accused of committing the felony while working for the Diplomatic Police Unit, according to the National Police Service.
The suspect, a police constable, has been under tight observation due to the case up until her arrest.
On August 7, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions issued a warrant for the officer’s arrest.
Part of the police announcement read, “She will appear before the Kitui law courts on Monday, September 25, 2023.”
She will likely be charged with robbery with violence in accordance with Section 295 of the Kenyan Penal Code.
“Any person who steals anything and uses or threatens to use actual violence against any person or to any person within hearing at the time of, immediately before, or immediately after the theft is guilty of the offence,” Section 295 states. The policeman might receive a life sentence.
Life in prison is the mandatory minimum punishment for violent robbery, although the court may impose a different term based on the specifics of the case. The officer will probably be fired from his or her position. However, if she is found guilty of robbery with violence, her work will be terminated immediately.
