Brian Anyango, who represents South Gem, was attending a funeral ceremony in his Ward when the tragic incident occurred.
During the funeral, the MCA encountered stiff resistance and was heckled by his constituents during his remarks. The audience booed him as he attempted to console the mourning family. The politician was at odds with his constituents for his affair with Kenya Kwanza politicians. He has met with Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo this year.
The MCA was attacked many times with a sharp item, according to Gem Sub-County Police Commander Cecilia Kemboi. The event was promptly reported to Akala Police Station, and he was taken to Kisumu County for immediate medical attention.

He evaded death by a hair’s breadth, but the ferocity of the attack left him in critical condition.Elisha Odhiambo, a Gem Member of Parliament, claimed the attackers were out to assassinate the politician while speaking at the hospital after visiting the MCA.The MP committed to take serious action to avoid such tragedies from occurring again in his county.
Elisha Odhiambo, who has repeated his support for the Kenya Kwanza government, also alleged that the attackers were encouraged and mobilized by a legislator from Kisumu County.The MCA, elected as an independent candidate, has faced difficult political times because of his partisan affiliations. The Luo Nyanza region has always voted for opposition leader Raila Odinga to the death. His recent meeting with Cabinet Secretaries Kipchumba Murkomen and Eliud Owalo garnered condemnation from local leaders.In defense of his conduct, the MCA stated that his interactions with government officials were intended to stimulate development in Siaya County.
