Politicians from the Rift Valley leave the Ruto event

Politicians from the Rift Valley leave the Ruto event

Several Kericho County Assembly members left the President William Ruto event  because they felt harassed by his security  detail. The politicians, one of them had yellow tie and were all dressed in suits, had convened in the county where the Head of State was going to announce the start of the Kimugu Water Project.

However, a video that was seen on Wednesday, July 19, showed more than ten MCAs telling police officers that they were not pleased with the way they were treated.

One of the lawmakers said, “We are going to the assembly,” as his colleagues conversed with the police in the local language.

The leaders were seen leaving a field full of supporters after the argument and headed into the county assembly in the one-minute video. The President wasn’t yet at the location.

The Ksh1.3 billion project in the Duka Moja region has a 13-kilometer pipeline and was built at a cost of that much.

More than 200,000 homes in the Kericho sub-counties of Belgut, Kipkelion East, and Ainamoi are anticipated to receive water from it.

Over 13 million litres of piped water will be pumped daily to the project’s beneficiaries as a result of the partnership between the County Government and the National Government.

The Head of State was compelled to intervene and calm the commotion in the Assembly in January 2023 due to disputes over the UDA leadership, which led to the walkout months later.

After two groups within the party were unable to come to an agreement on the leadership of the house, chaos was witnessed at the assembly in mid-January

Stop the nonsense, MCAs for Kericho. Instead of carrying out the duties for which you were chosen by Kenyans, you are wasting the Assembly’s time by jockeying for positions. At that moment, Ruto responded, “Shame on you.

The disputes were soon settled at a meeting that Governor Eric Mutai of Kericho, Woman Representative Beatrice Kemei, Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, and the MCAs were present for.
