Teso Roadblock Manipulated Death of a Busia Police Officer

On Sunday, December 10, near the Koteko  Road block area on the  Malaba – Bungoma Road, a hit-and-run event resulted in the death of a  police officer assigned to the Amagoro  Police Base in Busia County.

The event happened at approximately 9:00 p.m., according to a police record  that the source saw, and the female police officer was in charge of the Koteko  Road Block along the busy road.

According to the police report, the officer was hit by a speeding motor vehicle being driven from Malaba towards the Bungoma direction.

It was also revealed that the vehicle never stopped and fled the scene as soon as the incident happened.

The officer sustained fatal head injuries and was rushed to the Teso North Sub County Hospital for treatment. 

However, she succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The body has since been transferred to Bungoma County Hospital mortuary and is awaiting autopsy.

The driver of the vehicle is yet to be arrested, and the police have launched a manhunt for the vehicle and the driver. 

In efforts to aid, investigations, the police have also confirmed photographing and marking the scene of the accident. 

This accident is among the rising cases of traffic police officers killed in the line of duty by motorists. 

This year on July 13, a lorry around Nairobi’s Outer Ring crushed and killed another  police officer. Another event that occurred in Mombasa County in February 2023 was a driver who  drove off with a traffic police officer’s hand embedded in their car and pulling them  to their death.
