A pre-recorded election result sheet, which named Usman Ododo, the candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), the victor of the Near Ogogo Compound polling unit in the state’s Okehi local government area, was discovered hours before the polls opened on Saturday morning. According to the results sheet, the APC received 532 points, AA and SDP each received one valid vote, and other political parties received no points.
Reporters discovered that the people responsible for the pre-recorded outcome were bribing the agents of other parties to sign the paper. Additionally, reporters saw that some individuals in the local government district had begun to purchase votes.
Election observers in the local government area were informed by reporters that the ruling APC agents were paying people N10,000 to N20,000, depending on the details of the deal, to support their party’s candidate, Usman Ododo.
Reporters also detailed how certain Labour Party members and supporters expressed worry about changes made to polling unit officers who had previously received training on using the BVAS at the Ikenegbu Girls Polling Unit in the Owerri Municipal Council, Imo State.
