A Form Four student at Nyatoto Mixed Secondary School has been detained over the murder of his mother in Homa Bay county Kayanja Sub Location Assistant Chief Moses Sirawa said the suspect arrived home from school, and after eating supper, he allegedly strangled his mother to death.
Neighbours rushed to the house after they heard the commotion at the widow’s house, but unfortunately, the 39-year-old woman was already dead.
Allegations of a 16-year-old student killing his mother in Kitare Village, Homa Bay County, have led to his detention at the Mbita Police Station.
The 39-year-old mother, known as Nelis Ogutu, was allegedly fatally chopped by the suspect, a form four student at Nyatoto Mixed Secondary School, with a machete.
Assistant Chief Moses Sirawa of Kayanja Sub Location reports that the suspect attacked his mother right away after dinner on Thursday night after coming home from school.
According to Sirawa, police believe the child may have had mental health issues when he performed the horrific act.
He first strangled the deceased before hacking her with a machete over an unknown reason.
The deceased’s body was brought to the mortuary in Kirindo.
