Schools Closed Due to Bandit Attacks on  North Rift

More than 2,000 families are without a place to live following the most recent attacks. Seeking safety in internal camps, causing an immediate need for humanitarian assistance. Simultaneously, the loss of 16 lives underscores the severity of the situation.

There has been a lot of criticism directed at the government due to the ongoing banditry in six counties in the North Rift region. bringing attention to its alleged inability to capture these offenders in their hiding places.

For instance, because of the growing unrest, Yatya Primary School in Baringo North  has been closed for a week. making instructors and kids stay away.

Mr. Japheth Masibu, the County Director of Education for Baringo, affirms that the  ongoing insecurity has caused a notable drop in student attendance.

Sibilo Secondary School, Koroto Primary School, Moinonin Primary School, and  other institutions were all closed indefinitely, making the disruption to education  in the area worse.

Furthermore, because to the continued attacks, schools that were previously open, such as Yatya Secondary School and Kagir Primary School, have now been forced to close.

Due to the ensuing relocation, almost 2,000 families have taken up residence in settlement camps that are situated in comparatively safe regions.

MP Reuben Kiborek of Mogotio lamented the closing of schools as a result of criminal activity, highlighting the duty of the state to protect its people, particularly the youth, while they pursue their education.
