Changes to Term 1 School Closing Dates
Dates of School Closure for Term 1 in 2024 Have Changed. On April 5, all pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools will close, according to a statement from the Ministry of Education (MoE). On Monday, April 8th, 2024, the holiday will formally start.
On April 29, 2024, schools will reopen for term 2 after a three-week Easter holiday.
Currently, the ministry has scheduled a thirteen-week term, although students are expected to attend class for only two weeks in order to complete most of it.
The second term of 2024 will be for 14 weeks, from April 29 to August 2, 2024.
There will be a half-term break from June 20 to June 23, 2024, prior to the August holiday. Similar to the first term halfterm in 2024, which ran from February 29 to March 3, this will take place over the course of three days.
The August break is slated to last for three weeks, from August 5 to August 23.
Term three will see the completion of the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and the Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment over the course of four days, from October 28 to October 31.
There will be a ten-week December holiday from October 2024 to January 3, coinciding with the January 2025 reopening of schools.
