On Tuesday night, a guy who was suspected of killing his mother was beaten up by the people of Ihumbu in Murang’a County.The man allegedly committed the act after being freed from jail, leading locals to believe he had not yet learned his lesson.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect killed the mother and buried her close to the cow shed.They were unable to determine the reason behind the altercation right away, though. Residents took matters into their own hands and beat the guy to death after learning about the incident.They also bemoaned the increasing number of murders in the neighborhood, which made them fearful for their life and filled with terror.
This came about after a murder case resembling this one was reported a few kilometers from the house. Nevertheless, the suspect was taken into custody by the police for questioning and eventual court appearance. A fight over what to eat led to another man in Gaturo village being accused of killing his mother. The man’s mother had made bananas, and the police said he wanted ugali. Following an altercation, neighbors said that the man had killed his mother with a crude weapon. After opening an inquiry, police took action to reassure the terrified residents.
Locals asked the county administration to step in and put an end to the threat, attributing the rise in murder cases to the high unemployment rate.Some, meantime, bemoaned that the community’s young men were drug addicts and that this was the reason behind their horrific deeds.They suggested expanding counseling and rehabilitation facilities to help young people recover in order to address the underlying problems.
