Ruto Announces Deal With Foreign Countries for Online Jobs

On Saturday, March 16, President William Ruto said that he had reached agreements with three foreign nations for online employment for young Kenyans. The chief of state claims that the US, Germany, and France are among the nations that have already committed to giving Kenyans digital jobs.

Speaking at a rally in Bomet, Ruto urged the young people to get ready for digital careers even as the government worked to increase the number of employment available to Kenyan youth.

According to the president of state, “I have already negotiated with America, Germany, and France, and they have agreed to give our youth jobs on the internet, or the digital jobs.”

The head of state stated that Kenyans would be able to work online once the  government completed the construction of ICT hubs across the nation. He did point out that some of the young people will be able to find employment  online, while others would be permitted to work in the cheap housing buildings.

“In affordable housing, we have jobs, and similarly in the ICT hubs we have jobs. I will set up computers, bring teachers and provide internet so that everyone can click the computer and earn money,” Ruto stated.

“People in Kaptengelei, prepare, as long as you get your money, you do not need to worry about other things,” he added.

President Ruto was astounded in January of this year to learn that a student was using the government’s Jitume ICT Laboratories to make a living online. On January 16, Ruto met with Brian Kipchumba, a student pursuing an ICT diploma while simultaneously earning part-time internet jobs, during his visit to Mosop, Nandi County.

The student revealed that, after deducting taxes, he keeps about Ksh40,000, which he uses to pay for his everyday costs.
