Kiambu Residents Heckled Ichung’wah for Criticising Uhuru
While addressing the people of Limuru on Friday, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah was compelled to end his speech early. As soon as the MP started criticizing former President Uhuru Kenyatta, locals heckled him during his speech during the groundbreaking ceremonies for two marketplaces.
Ichung’wah was accusing Uhuru and his family of buying off County Assembly (MCA) members to make fun of him at open demonstrations. The majority leader of the National Assembly charged that Uhuru was collaborating with Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba and Governor Kimani Wamatangi to obstruct development in Kiambu.
“I have told you that Kiambu will develop at the pace the people want, not the one Uhuru and Governor Kimani Wamatangi want,” Ichung’wah remarked. However, the locals were not amused by these remarks with a bulk of them asking the Majority Leader to stop attacking and blaming Uhuru for all his misfortunes.
The locals further asked him to stop blaming Uhuru for the Kenya Kwanza government’s shortcomings. The residents questioned, “What do you have against Uhuru?”
Additionally, the residents remarked that the MP was among the leaders who have been piling on Uhuru for no tangible reason since he retired. Some of the residents opined that Ichung’wah was using campaign tactics to defend the current government and transfer the blame for Kenya Kwanza’s shortcomings to Uhuru’s regime.
Ichung’wah has always supported the Kenya Kwanza government and has publicly accused Uhuru’s administration of causing the nation’s economic woes. In addition, he charged that Uhuru was funding schemes to undermine Ruto’s development initiatives.
His attempts to calm the crowd were futile as the locals accused him of lying. While addressing the constituents, Ichung’wah’s microphone was reportedly turned off, giving the residents a chance to hurl insults at him.
The residents started chanting Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamantangi’s name, a leader whom Ichung’wah has openly opposed. While this was happening, the residents could be heard asking for chicks, which is among Wamatangi’s key projects to empower his constituents. However, Ichung’wah tried to play down the situation.
“Do you want free healthcare or the chick?”The residents unanimously answered they wanted the chicks.
Ichung’wah addressed the situation on Saturday and denied rumors that he was in conflict with Wamatangi and has his sights set on becoming Kiambu Governor. He also took the chance to request that Wamatangi cease fighting him through proxies and concentrate on keeping his word to the people of Kiambu.
“I won’t respond to the leaders the governor has sent me on any given day. Allow him to come by himself if he wants to confront me. “Today or tomorrow, I am not interested in that seat,” he said.
Not only did the audience jeer Ichung’wah, but Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thang’wa was also called names and accused of doing little for the people since his election.
