Teachers to receive Leave Allowance Next Week,TSC
By the end of this month, teachers who work for the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will get an extra allowance.
This additional compensation is a result of the annual leave allowance, which is paid to teachers once a year and is based on the size of their particular job groups.
Teachers have the entitlement to various types of leaves, including a thirty-day annual leave, which can be availed of during school holidays. Irrespective of the terms and conditions of service, a teacher working under the Commission is eligible for a maximum of thirty days of annual leave with full pay for each calendar year served.
It is emphasized by the Commission that annual leave should only be taken during school holidays and cannot be accumulated for carryover from one year to the next.
The application for annual leave is required to be submitted online, exclusively during school holidays and in adherence to the procedures specified in the Twenty Seventh Schedule of the TSC Code of Regulations for teachers (CORT).
Since December 1, 2021, the Commission has automated the leave application and approval process, transitioning it to an online system. All teachers on the TSC payroll, including interns, are henceforth obligated to apply for leave through this online platform.
Sick leave, annual leave, compassionate leave, paternity leave, maternity leave, study leave, special leave, adoption leave, and spouse of diplomat leave are among the leave types that are offered on this site.
According to the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for the years 2021–2025 and as described in Circular 14/2021, the TSC Leave Allowance rates for teachers are dependent on job categories.
The following are the appropriate rates of Annual Leave Allowance for various job groups:
– Grade B5: Sh4,000
– Grade C1: Sh4,000
– Grade C2: Sh6,000
– Grade C3: Sh6,000
– Grade C4: Sh6,000
– Grade C5: Sh6,000
– Grade D1: Sh10,000
– Grade D2: Sh10,000
– Grade D3: Sh10,000
– Grade D4: Sh10,000
