Two cops suspended after Karni Sena chief’s killing in Jaipur
A day after Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, the president of the Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, was shot and killed by three assailants in Jaipur, two Rajasthan Police officers were suspended.
Manish Gupta, the Station House Officer (SHO), and Mahesh, the constable, were suspended by the Rajasthan Police on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Gogamedi was shot and killed inside his home. The attackers were seen pulling out weapons and firing randomly at Gogamedi, who was seated on a couch across from them, in CCTV footage of the incident.
Before fleeing, one of the assailants shot at a motionless Gogamedi lying on the floor from close range.
In the meantime, the police identified two of the suspects as Nitin Fouji, a resident of Mahendragath, Haryana, and Rohit Rathore, a local of Makrana Nagaur.
On Wednesday, members of the Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena protested in Bhopal, Indore, and Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, against the death of the group’s leader, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi.
At Jyoti Talkies Square in MP Nagar, Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena activists in Bhopal created a roadblock, demanding that the attackers responsible for Gogamedi’s death be “eliminated in an encounter”. The demonstrators caused traffic disruptions by setting fire to tires.
