1000 Needy StudentsTo Benefit From Wings To Fly Scholarships
Scholars from all throughout the nation participating in Equity Wings to Fl convened at Pangani Girls High School in Nairobi on Sunday to formally commission the 2024 cohort. At Pangani Girls High School, 1000 beneficiaries from all over the nation convened for a three-day induction and training session prior to the ceremonial commissioning.
With the introduction of the program’s fifteenth cohort, the Equity Group Foundation has now granted sixty thousand comprehensive secondary school scholarships. One of the program’s fortunate recipients is 14-year-old Audrey Kijulu of Voi, whose little shoulders carry the dreams of his town and family despite his little size. Kijulu, who received a score of 354 points, is eager to start at Matiliku Boys High School, where his future is already planned.
“Equity scholarship is paying for our school fees, proving us with pocket money and uniforms, school fees – and its bata shoes, and I thank them for that because I cannot afford it,’ Kijulu told Citizen TV. “I want to be a neurosurgeon and help people in my village. Most of them are poor and have mental challenges.”Farahan Hasan is a similar beneficiary from Mandera county. He says, he can’t wait to finish school and go back to help his community.“I want to become a teacher because in our county there are no teachers, because the security is not good and this people from down Kenya have disappeared from us,” Farahan said.
Dr. James Mwangi, Executive Chairman of the Equity Group Foundation, urged the students to fully utilize the mentorship and scholarship program during his speech at the commissioning.
He added that Wings to Fly will ensure the scholars are well-rounded individuals by offering a comprehensive mentorship program, a back-to-school basket, psychosocial support, and on-campus medical care, in addition to paying the full cost of tuition for four years.”This program aims to provide you with an opportunity to transform your life. We are living past all of the challenges you have mentioned. “You have been adopted by Wings to Fly and Equity Group Foundation,” Mwangi informed the students.
“So, your main goal should be to concentrate on your dreams—your very big dreams,”Additionally featured in the commissioning were scholars from the Equity Leaders program who would be attending Global colleges. “I was accepted to Princeton University throughout the program, and I’ll be starting in August of this year. I’ve always wished to work at a prestigious university.
As the beneficiary Meshack Oloo put it, “I feel like so many doors have been opened to me.” In order to assist high-achieving kids from low-income households with their secondary education, Equity Group Foundation and Equity Bank launched the Wings to Fly program. Additional support was provided by other partners.
