Police shoot boss at work then flee
A manhunt has been initiated by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for a police corporal who is suspected of shooting an inspector while performing his duties. The incident on Sunday, December 17 took place at a Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation plant in Kieni, Nyeri, according to the DCI.
The inspector was said to have been irked by the behaviour of his junior while in the field. Reports alleged that the wanted officer was intoxicated, forcing his boss to relieve him of his duties.
According to the police report, “the inspector relieved the corporal of his duties and ordered him to return to the vehicle while arrangements were made to replace him because he was drunk.”Regretfully, the corporal took exception at the orders, pulling out a gun and firing at the inspector. “The officer entered the car, aimed his CZ weapon at the inspector, and fired three shots.
The report stated, “Unfortunately, two bullets lodged in his body, one at the right hand and the other at the waist.” After the suspect was disarmed by the on-scene officers, he regrettably flagged down a private vehicle and fled to a predetermined location. The wounded police officer was taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital and treated there; he is currently in a stable condition.
Authorities issued a warning to the public not to host the officer, who was expected to face charges for allegedly using a handgun unlawfully and showing up for work while intoxicated.
