Student Stabbed by Lover Next to Police Station
The victim, a 22-year-old student at the Kanjuku Vocational Training Centre in Kiambu County, died after being viciously stabbed by her estranged lover who had come to see her on the pretense of returning her misplaced phone. Speaking to the media on Saturday, the deceased’s mother, Mary Wanjiku, disclosed that the alleged boyfriend had called her daughter and claimed to have found the phone and asked to meet at Gatundu Police Station.
Wanjiku claimed that her daughter, Alice Wangechi, who had just come home from school, had consented to meet her lover. The tragic stabbing took place during this meeting.
She reported the theft of her phone to the police two months ago. She was thrilled and ready to get her phone when she got the call from her friend, she said. Wangechi’s father, David Kimani, questioned why his daughter was killed so close to the police station, which is supposed to be a secure location teeming with police officers. “We don’t understand how she could have been fatally stabbed so close to a police station. Her remains might not have been found if it weren’t for a watchful neighbor who spotted her dead and informed the authorities,” the distraught father lamented.
Wangechi was regarded by the family as a happy youngster with a natural gift and a great desire to learn. Before her untimely passing, she was enrolled in a beauty and hairdressing degree. She had a hope that she would provide for the family after she finished her education and found a job. Wangechi usually saved money and pleasantly surprised us with presents, according to Wangechi’s grandmother Margaret Wanjiru. The mother of Wangechi also said that Wangechi has been suffering diabetes at a young age. “She was just 8 years old when she was diagnosed with diabetes, and she battled it her entire life. I’m utterly devastated, and I’m putting everything in God’s hands,” she said.
The family is pleading with the police to launch a comprehensive inquiry to discover the truth.
