First-Year Student Stabbed to Death 4 Days After Admission

On Friday, October 20, a first-year student at Pwani University was fatally stabbed in a robbery while fighting for  her life. Four days after being admitted to the Kilifi County-based prison, Faith Adongo was reportedly ambushed by armed thieves as she  made her way home.

The robbers fled with her phone in the crime that happened on Misifuni Road,  leaving her to bleed to death from the injuries on her neck. She was taken to Mephi Hospital by emergency personnel and good Samaritans,  where first aid was provided before she was temporarily admitted so that her  condition could be observed.

But as things deteriorated, she had to be taken to the intensive care unit (ICU) at Kilifi County Hospital by the medical staff.Pwani University students and staff came together to donate blood in order to save Adongo, who had bled heavily, under the direction of their Student association leader, Nashon Okoth.

Students at the institution expressed worries for their safety after the incident,  lamenting the unrest on the street where Adongo was attacked.
