When one of the dormitories at a secondary school caught fire for an unexplained  reason, it was a tragic occurrence. It was a disturbing scenario that played out at Riokindo Boys High School in Kisii  County during this unfortunate incident.

Joshua Muimi, who served as a whistle-blower and was worried, provided the first account of this incident. He posted pictures of the burning dorm to show the frantic and dangerous scenario. People in need were heard pleading for assistance from neighbors in a video that went viral as they tried to put out the fire that was growing quickly.

Upon receiving this distressing news, a rescue mission was promptly initiated, and efforts to bring the fire under control were set in motion. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties among the students, although a few of them suffered injuries during this ordeal.

The event highlights a worrying trend in Kenya, where accidental school fires have increased over the past ten years. The significance of fire safety and readiness in educational institutions is starkly brought home by this incident.
