President William Ruto signed the Appropriation Bill 2024, which authorised the issuance of a sum of money out of the Consolidated Fund and its application towards the service of the year ending on June 14, 2025, and to appropriate that sum and a sum voted on account by the National Assembly for certain public services and purposes.

The Teachers Service Commission programs’ existing expenses were authorized to be funded in the year ending June 30, 2025, by the Appropriations Bill 2024.

TSC is slated to receive KSh 357.115 billion for the provision of standard general administration, support services, governance, and human resource management, as per the Appropriations Bill 2024.

TSC wants to reassure all of its workers that their pay and benefits are safe and unaffected by the legal proceedings surrounding the Finance Bill 2024, in light of the fake news warning that was sent out.

In other news, Ruto stated that, due to the lack of additional funds that were expected from the revenues generated by the rejected Bill, the government will have to forgo confirming JSS teachers as intended.

The head of state asserted that rejecting the Finance Bill 2024 was a challenging decision for him due to his awareness of the potential consequences for the country.
