KUCCPS Closes Portal and Makes Student Promises

KUCCPS Closes Portal and Makes Student Promises

The application procedure for university courses has officially ended, according to the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).The service said in a statement that the application deadline, which was set for March 4, had been reached and the portal was closed.

However, students faced a number of difficulties with the application procedure, which resulted in two deadline extensions. As a result, several students were unable to finish their applications. As a result, KUCCPS has promised to reactivate the portal so that students can make their selections during the first round of choice revision.

“The KUCCPS application portal has closed. Another opportunity to apply is coming up, during the first revision of choices,” read the statement in part.

Whereas the agency failed to give the applicants exact dates for revision, it promised to keep updating them on when the portal will be reopened.

On February 8 of this year, the site was first made available to the public, with the  intention of keeping it up until February 22. However, KUCCPS had to move up the deadline to February 26 due to issues with  payment and selection. The problems continued after that, and Ezekiel Machogu, the cabinet secretary for  education, was forced to issue a further delay till March 4. The application procedure was negatively impacted, according to parents and  students impacted by the hitches, by the payment processing delay.

“Error: Please wait for the payment to reflect to complete the application,” the site read after payment was done, halting the process temporarily,” one user complained.

The user said, “But if the system does not improve, this extension will be useless. Imagine trying to apply one application for the last few days without success.”

Machogu apologized for the wait time but pointed out that the Ministry was aware of the complaints, which is why an extension was requested.

“The Ministry has taken note of the challenges that some students have faced in the ongoing application process,” he said.

Although the number of pupils who applied is unknown, KUCCPS had anticipated receiving about 171,738 applications, or 86% of the total number of candidates who received a C+ or higher in the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary test, based on the trends demonstrated by 2022 applicants.
