The university and TVET placement results for 2023 KCSE students were made public by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) on Tuesday, May 21.
Over 18,000 students were also placed to pursue degree courses in private universities.
Wahome also disclosed that a higher proportion of male students who took the 2023 national examinations applied to universities for degree programs.
On the other hand, more female students applied to TVET institutions for degree programs.
“Of the 85 percent of 2023 KCSE candidates with a C+ or higher who submitted applications, 76.2% chose degree programs and the remaining percentage chose diploma courses (11,991).
“Bachelor of Education attracted the highest number of applicants. Male applicants continued to dominate placement to Degree programmes, sustaining a trend that has been observed since the beginning of the central placement system,” the CEO revealed.
