The Ministry of Education intends to address matters pertaining to skills in order to harmonize the educational system.
A unified education system, according to State Department for Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Principal Secretary Esther Mworia, will assist maximize and exploit both emerging and current capabilities.
With the economy growing, Dr. Mworia believes the government will be able to carry out the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
She stated that in order to raise the nation’s educational standards, the Ministry was particularly interested in professionalism, relevance, and appropriate representation.
According to her, “it is critical to implement tools that enable gap identification, long-term strategic goal setting, assessment of weaknesses and strengths, and a clear demonstration that there is optimal utilization of the available resources.”
The PS was speaking at Lake Naivasha Resort during a workshop to finalise the recently launched KNQA Strategic Plan.
“KNQA is playing a huge role in harmonising our national education system and is keen to address issues that touch on skills that contribute towards sustaining the economy,” she said.
She praised the authority for creating the Recognition of Prior Learning policy and implementing it nationwide, which strengthened the current accreditation processes and encouraged lifelong learning.
“Investing in the economy is the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, and all of these efforts are implementing it in one way or another,” the speaker stated.
Director General Alice Kande of KNQA gave assurances that the Strategic Plan would guarantee the provision of high-quality services and a dedication to providing professional and honest service.
According to Dr. Kande, the authority is essential in bringing uniformity to the nation’s training and education systems by putting the Kenya National Qualifications Framework into practice.
“We embrace the profound responsibility of managing and implementing the framework to shape the future of this country as we firm up the new Strategic Plan,” the speaker stated.
The KNQA Chairperson Stanley Kiptis called on the staff to deliver a central national database of credible qualifications that was seamlessly integrated with other education sub-frameworks.
“The African Continental Qualifications Framework is instrumental in fostering continental integration, prosperity and achieving the objectives set,” he said.
Kiptis declared that in order to improve the development of skills and qualifications, KNQA plans will be in line with the African Continental Qualifications Framework.
