Category of Primary Teachers TSC Will No Longer Hire
The instructors Service Commission (TSC) has declared that it would no longer hire instructors who merely hold a primary school diploma, marking a substantial change in the qualifications for teacher bemployment.
Rather, the new requirement is a Primary Education Diploma. It is recommended that certificate holders who are currently working seek additional education by 2024, as the commission intends to permanently stop hiring P1 teachers.
The commission’s determination to ensure that instructors possess the necessary qualifications and to conform to the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) is evident in this ruling.
A diploma designed to meet CBC requirements will take the place of the P1 certificate, which was formerly a prerequisite.
By establishing greater expectations for educators, TSC hopes to improve education nationwide.
A Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE) is now required as the minimum certification for teaching grades 1 through 6.
Additionally, teachers can get post-training upgrade certifications that let them teach students in different grade levels provided they have finished particular training programs like ECDE, PTE, DTE, BED, DIP ED, and SNE.
TSC is keeping a close eye on P1 instructors who are engaged in additional coursework at Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) around the country.
In order to address the changing demands of the education sector, the commission underlines the significance of higher degrees and ongoing professional development.
P1 teachers’ dreams of being hired by TSC based only on their certifications have been destroyed by these modifications.
However, individuals who have improved their credentials to a diploma level would be given preference in future teacher recruitments.
All things considered, TSC’s decision shows a proactive attitude to raising the standard of education in Kenya and making sure that educators have the training and credentials needed to successfully oversee instruction in accordance with contemporary curriculum requirements.
