Witness Cries at Senate During Governor Impeachment Hearing
Dennis Mokaya, a witness, sobbed before the Senate on Wednesday during Kisii Deputy Governor Robert Monda’s impeachment trial.
In his testimony against the DG, the guy said that he and his father had bribed the Deputy Governor with Ksh 800,000 to influence the outcome of a job interview at the Gusii Water and Sanitation Company Limited (GWASCO).
Mokaya clarified that he had submitted an application to GWASCO for the post of Commercial Manager. Due to their long-standing friendship, it is said that at this point, his father arranged to provide the Deputy Governor a bribe in order to guarantee that his son’s application was approved.
He sobbed, claiming that his family had suffered greatly as a result of his father’s alleged sale of business assets that his wife had been running in Ruai.
Mokaya claimed that the purported transaction caused him to lose his life savings. He stated throughout the hearings that he was compelled to move because he was unable to land the job in question. He went on to say that when he was not able to get the job, his wife, who had objected to the bribe, was upset.
Wife was not having any fun. The witness stated that she had miscarried after twelve years of attempting to become pregnant at that point.Unexpectedly, Mokaya’s parents are scheduled to appear in the Senate on Thursday to provide a defense testimony for the Deputy Governor.
The witness, however, challenges the DG’s case, which is predicated on the assertion that Mokaya’s parents were repaying a debt owed to him.But Mokaya has been probed by the Senate, who claims he was confessing to them that he was a criminal since he intended to pay the bribe in order to obtain an unfair advantage.
The witness was also questioned by the Senate over his character and money management because he was suspected of having a gambling issue. It is anticipated that the impeachment hearing will proceed on Thursday.
The Kisii County Assembly impeached Dr. Robert Monda on charges of grave misconduct and official abuse.
