Police Shoot Dead 2 Robbery Suspects

On suspicion of breaking into a nearby shop, police in Ngoingwa Village, Thika West, Kiambu County, shot and killed two individuals on Wednesday morning.The two entered the store by breaking through a perimeter wall that encloses it, according to Thika West Sub-County Police Commander Lawrence Muchangi. They then started loading items into sacks.

Following an early tip from the public, the police set out to find the culprits and pursued them. During the pursuit, they shot two of the suspects to death and critically injured another.The culprits are allegedly a part of a group that also robbed a nearby school and assaulted two watchmen, Muchangi stated while recounting the incident.

In the ordeal, one security guard succumbed to the injuries while receiving treatment.”The investigations have begun and police officers are ready to ensure that safety in this area is restored,” Muchangi noted.

“This is just a group of young men and we will deal with them until this menace comes to an end.” Three months prior, on November 23, two infamous robbers were killed down by  detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kibra, Nairobi  County, in a similar occurrence.

During the operation, one of the suspects began to shoot at the officers indiscriminately. The move prompted the sleuths to respond with finality.Following the ordeal, the officers recovered six rounds of 9mm ammunition, 7 spent cartridges, and 4 bullet heads.The suspects’ bodies were subsequently transported to a city mortuary for identification.While addressing the press on the incident, Kilimani Police Boss Moss Ndiwa noted police have enhanced operations to address such cases of robberies in the area.
