Azimio warns Ruto Against Overtaxing Kenyans

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party  leaders have upped their condemnation of  President William Ruto’s attack on the Judiciary.

Led by Wiper party boss Kalonzo Musyoka, the opposition side vowed that it  will safeguard the independence of all three parts of government from threats  and intimidation from the Executive. This comes as Jimi Wanjigi, the 2022 presidential candidate for the Safina party,  threatened to bring down the economy completely in six months if the Kenya  Kwanza government did not cease taxing Kenyans excessively.

Kalonzo, while attending a funeral service for the late Joshua Muia Kitivi in Kyuluni village, Machakos County, said there is no negotiations regarding interference with the independence of the Judiciary.

“On Tuesday Wiper NEC will meet to show direction. As a Senior Counsel and Kenyan advocates, we will stand to protect our courts. Executive, Legislature and Judiciary should be respected by all,” said the Wiper chief.

In Gem Constituency, Siaya County, Azimio leader Raila Odinga led ODM leaders in faulting President William Ruto’s high taxation expedition, warning that Kenyans would revolt against an oppressive regime.

“As President Ruto continues over taxing  Kenyans, he has an obligation to ensure  those taxes are utilized properly,” Ugunja MP  Opiyo Wandayi said.

Governor James Orengo of Siaya and Governor Wanjigi of Meru County chastised  President Ruto for his comments and cautioned him against overnurbening Kenyans.

During Kathleen Nkatha Murugu’s funeral at the Naari location in Buuri, Meru County,  the two leaders had a conversation. Orengo stated, “The Judiciary’s onslaught is the worst part of it; it is regrettable and  reckless.” “If this regime continues to overtax Kenyans, we are headed to total collapse of the  economy,” Wanjigi continued.
