KCPE Student Left Stranded After Being Called to Boys School

Gloria Adhiambo, a female student enrolled in Nyalgunga Primary School for her 2023 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), is confused about her request to transfer to Lenana School, a boys-only institution. When Adhiambo, the best student at her primary school, was called up to the prestigious school, there were concerns regarding the standards that were applied to determine her placement.

She was initially taken aback to get a calling letter from a Nairobi school and  didn’t care to double-check which particular school it was from. “I received the following calling letter. I had no idea that the school was for boys. Speaking to journalists, Gloria said, “I didn’t realize it was a girls’ school until I  conducted further research in preparation for starting school.

Her family is currently in a state of uncertainty, not knowing how to go, particularly because they had hoped for her to start school as soon as possible.Adhiambo selected Kisumu Girls, Starehe Girls, and Alliance Girls as the schools she wished to attend.

“When I was accepted to a prestigious school, everybody were thrilled, but now we’re confused. “We don’t even know how to ask well-wishers for financial assistance because I need help getting into high school,” Gloria remarked.Gloria has not received a call letter, so she is now asking for assistance from the appropriate authorities.

“I would like to join Kisumu Girls High School but I am afraid because my parents may not take me there due to lack of school fees,” she stated. She has attempted, through her mother, to apply for scholarships from several charities, but all of her attempts have been unsuccessful.Since form one students are expected to go to school on January 15, they have not yet been admitted.
