EACC Sends Warning to School Principals

Parents who wish to enroll their children in form one are now asked by the Ethic and Anti-Corruption Commission to report school administrators who ask for money for the activity.Parents have complained to EACC, according to spokesman Eric Ngumbi, that certain school administrators are asking for payments in exchange for Form One admission letters.

Ngumbi noted that they have received cases where principals are asking for between Sh10, 000 to Sh150, 000 before issuing admission letters. “It is very unfortunate that principals are now an emerging group of corrupt persons. Someone may say that it is their season because it is time when form ones are being admitted,” Ngumbi noted.

“It is embarrassing and immoral to demand money from parents who are struggling to get fees for their children.”

CS Education On December 18, 2023, Ezekiel Machogu announced the Form One placement results, giving parents time to get ready for their child’s admittance. However, some parents, not pleased with the schools in which their children were placed, opted to hunt for their perceived better alternatives.

This, according to EACC, has led some principals to demand a bribe in exchange for admission vacancies. EACC now wants parents to report corrupt principals who are soliciting cash in exchange for admission.“We are asking parents to let EACC know of any principal or person who is either soliciting or accepting bribes to issue one admission letters.”
