BOM Teaching and Non-Teaching Salary Items
Comprehensive instructions pertaining to the terms of employment for teaching and non-teaching staff at secondary schools under the jurisdiction of the Board of Management (BoM) are provided by the Ministry of Education.
These standards, which are based on the recommendations of the education task group headed by Dr. Kilemi Mwiria in 2014, specify the amount of staff members each institution should have and their fixed wage structures.
The bursar is the highest paid non-teaching employee, with a base pay of up to Sh41,000; security personnel and grounds staff members make the least money, with monthly pay ranging from Sh9,660 to Sh11,370.

In order to alleviate the nation’s scarcity of instructors, the Board of Management also hires educators. Within BoM, teacher pay differ based on the size of the school. Teachers in most National schools earn between Sh18,000 and Sh25,000 per month, whilst those in single-streamed schools receive at least Sh10,000.
According to a recent Ministry of Education circular, BoM instructors would get backdated payments starting in July and a flat rate of Ksh. 10,000 until the end of the year.
