Raila announces fresh protest date.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has warned to resume street protests in 30 days. This’ll be if the planned talks between the opposition and the administration fall  through. On Saturday, August 5, during the burial of protesters in Gem, Siaya County, the  Azimio party head pledged his supporters that he would not quit in forcing the government to solve their issues.

Despite President William Ruto’s warnings, the opposition has threatened to organize widespread protests in September 2023.

Raila threatened to have given the ruling government until October 30.For constructive  talks that will restore sanity in the country. “The next course of action would be announced once the ultimatum  expired.”he added

Raila gave the government 30 days to lower the cost of living.Consult the opposition on the reconstruction of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), create the official office of the opposition, among other demands.

Azimio settled on Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka to represent it in the talks. National Assembly Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi, DAP Party leader Eugene Wamalwa, Nyamira Senator Okong’o Omogeni and Malindi MP Amina Mnyazi were also selected to join the bipartisan team.

Cut the cost of living.Communicate with the opposition on the reconstruction of the  Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). Establish an official opposition office, among other things.

Azimio chose Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka to represent it in the negotiations. Tgether with Opiyo Wandayi, Minority Leader of the National Assembly, Eugene Wamalwa, Senator Okong’o Omogeni of Nyamira, and Malindi MP Amina Mnyazi  .

Raila insisted that he authorized Kalonzo Musyoka to pull out of the discussions, at  any time without notice.if the Kenya Kwanza delegation treated them with  contempt. Kalonzo was also given the task of ensuring that all issues made by Azimio are  handled and resolved. “However, we have given the team, which includes Kalonzo Musyoka, the opportunity to speak with those on the other side.” This is not a flaw. According to Raila, his comment came just hours after Kenya Kwanza reversed his position on  addressing all of Azimio’s issues.

Kimani Ichung’wah, Kenya Kwanza’s lead representative in the discussions.He  indicated that President William Ruto given him express permission only to negotiate the  rebuilding of the IEBC.

IChung’wa would not negotiate a power-sharing arrangement with the opposition or their inclusion in government. Ichung’wa,who serves as the Kikuyu Mp and National Assembly majority leader ,stated so in Murang’a county during Ruto’s Mt. Kenya visit. He mocked Raila’s team for requesting that the government reduce the cost of living. “If they want to save money, let them go to the farm. We’ll supply them with fertilizer,” Ichung’wah chided the opposition. Ruto  ignored Raila’s threats and stated that he would not allow protests to  reoccur. So he assured Kenyans that no businesses will be destroyed by Ruto.

Ruto stated that they must respect democracy and our Constitution.

Ruto added that the only remaining job  is to send him back to Bondo. He added , he will get there without knowing it.

 Kenya Kwanza and Azimio agreed to begin negotiations on Monday, August 7.
