Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has warned to resume street protests in 30 days. This’ll be if the planned talks between the opposition and the administration fall through. On Saturday, August 5, during the burial of protesters in Gem, Siaya County, the Azimio party head pledged his supporters that he would not quit in forcing the government to solve their issues.

Azimio settled on Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka to represent it in the talks. National Assembly Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi, DAP Party leader Eugene Wamalwa, Nyamira Senator Okong’o Omogeni and Malindi MP Amina Mnyazi were also selected to join the bipartisan team.

According to Raila, his comment came just hours after Kenya Kwanza reversed his position on addressing all of Azimio’s issues.

IChung’wa would not negotiate a power-sharing arrangement with the opposition or their inclusion in government. Ichung’wa,who serves as the Kikuyu Mp and National Assembly majority leader ,stated so in Murang’a county during Ruto’s Mt. Kenya visit. He mocked Raila’s team for requesting that the government reduce the cost of living. “If they want to save money, let them go to the farm. We’ll supply them with fertilizer,” Ichung’wah chided the opposition. Ruto ignored Raila’s threats and stated that he would not allow protests to reoccur. So he assured Kenyans that no businesses will be destroyed by Ruto.

Kenya Kwanza and Azimio agreed to begin negotiations on Monday, August 7.
