The teachers Service Commission (TSC) has disclosed important changes for senior teachers in public primary and secondary schools in a recent circular. It is expected that the TSC salary structures would change significantly; insiders have indicated that compensation may rise as early as July 2024. The CEO of TSC fervently supports the call for higher remuneration, stressing the significance of recognizing the dedication of these educators. Notably, primary school teachers in grade C5 may experience a promising surge in their salaries, escalating from 47,896 to 64,631 shillings, indicating a substantial increase of 17,000 shillings.
In a similar vein, secondary school teachers could see an increase in pay—from the present 115,163 shillings to 157,656 shillings. The 2021–2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) universal pay increases are in line with this suggested adjustment.
