Grade 9 Transition to Senior School in 2025; KICD Boss
The Head of KICD Talks About the Grade 9 Transition to Senior School. The CEO of the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, Charles Ong’ondo, has stated that there are no plans to transfer Grade 9 to the high school that houses Senior School.
According to Ong’ondo, there has been no announcement from the Ministry of Education on the planned transition of the current Grade 8 Junior School students to High School in 2024.
According to Ong’ondo, there are no plans to move grade 9 to senior school because the years need to align with the developmental milestones of the children who are the learning system’s targets, as he indicated in a radio station interview.
Ong’ondo said that the Basic Education structure of CBC is that learners spend full two years in pre-primary, 6 years in Primary, and three years in Junior School, and 3 years in Senior School, hence 2-6-3-3 curriculum.
He went on to explain that senior school will consist of three years of instruction aimed at students between the ages of fifteen and seventeen.
Professor Ong’ondo went on to say that education is thought to play a more important function than it has ever had.
It aids in identifying the rising rates of conflict and violence that force migration and contribute to climate change.
