New Half-Term 2 Dates Announced By Ministry Of Education
The government of Kenya has announced the new dates for the pre-primary, primary, and secondary school half-terms.
In a statement, the Ministry of Education advised all county education directors to be aware of the changes made to the earlier dates set by the government.
The senior secretary for education, Belio Kipsang, has declared that from June 26, 2024, to June 28, 2024, there will be a half-term break for all students.
The previous plan for the 2024 half-term dates was June 20–June 23, 2024. Likewise, after their half-term break, all boarders are expected to report back to class on June 30, 2024.
Schedule modifications and planned activities may be necessary as a result of the change. Kipsang instructed the education directors, “As a result, you are directed to disseminate the information in this circular to all Head Teachers and Principals of schools under your jurisdiction.”
The government’s decision to move the original April 29, 2024, school opening date to May 13, 2024, following widespread flooding across the nation, was the catalyst for the adjustments.
The Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams, according to Machogu, won’t be rescheduled.
“The exam schedule is unchanged; starting in November, KCSE and KPSEA will be administered at the regular time,” he continued.
