In order to advance their P1 Certificates to a Diploma Level, P1 instructors who graduated before to 2019 and are not already employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) allegedly started a nine-month upgrading program in 2019.

TSC highlighted that, although not applying for a diploma upgrading, they still employ instructors with P1 certificates in an effort to promote diversity and anti-discrimination.

After being hired, these educators go through a rigorous retraining program that equips them with the skills necessary to successfully apply the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

When asked if TSC will offer P1 certificate holders the upper hand in hiring new instructors after they reach the Diploma level, the commission stated that it is an equal opportunity employer and that it abides by regulatory requirements.

They have created Recruitment Guidelines to guarantee that the hiring procedure is carried out legally and preserves the liberties and rights outlined in the Constitution.

These criteria list the competencies and skill sets required for recruiting. In compliance with these recruitment guidelines, TSC has also developed a Recruitment Score Card.

This scorecard takes into account all relevant variables, including age, the amount of time since teacher certification, CBC upgrade, and professional qualifications.

After completing the diploma improvement program, teachers get higher ratings on an example scorecard provided by the commission.
