Journalist Rita Tinina Found Dead In Her House
Since October of last year, Tinina has been employed by NTV. On Sunday afternoon, her body was discovered inside her Kileleshwa neighborhood home in Nairobi.Her coworkers said that although she was scheduled to report to work, she failed to do so and was unreachable by phone.
A search into her whereabouts led to the discovery of her body in the house. The cause of death was not immediately clear.
Through a social media post, NTV verified Tinina’s passing and stated that her family had asked for privacy.
The broadcaster posted on X, “Famous NTV journalist Rita Tinina passes away at her Nairobi home; family requests privacy during this difficult moment.”
The cause of her death was yet to be established by the time of publishing. The police transferred her body to a mortuary as investigations into the incident kicked off. Former KTN News anchor Lindah Oguttu eulogised her as a mentor who guided her in the media industry.
“I am who I am because I stood on her shoulders while at NTV. Go well my darling. Rita Tinina, the hand that held mine and never let go. I am broken,” she stated.
Her family and Nation Media Group, her employer, are yet to issue statements over reporter’s death.
With over ten years of journalism experience, Tinina is a well-liked media figure. Before going on to work as a senior correspondent at KTN News in 2012, she was employed at the Nation Media Group (NMG). She would later return to NTV in October 2023. She was a mother of one.
