A third chance has been announced by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) for students to apply online for a range of programs. The agency acknowledged the difficulties students encountered throughout the application period, which prevented some from completing their submissions, when the application portal closed on the deadline of March 4.
While stressing the closing of the KUCCPS application portal, the official statement made a suggestion about a potential second opportunity during the first round of choice revision.
The government promised to provide updates on the portal’s reopening even though it did not provide any deadlines for the change. The portal was originally scheduled to close on February 22 after it was opened on February 8. However, due to difficulties with the payment and selection processes, the deadline was extended to February 26.
The decision for an extension resulted from CS Machogu acknowledging the shortcomings and expressing the Ministry’s awareness of the difficulties. The Minister promised that information about the portal’s reopening will be released as soon as it was available. The precise number of applicants is yet unknown, however KUCCPS projected that there would be roughly 171,738 applications total. This would represent 86% of candidates who scored a C+ or higher in the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exam, according to application statistics from the past.
