60-Year-Old Woman Killed Body Dumped In Coffee Plantation
Kahiro hamlet in Kirinyaga County is in shock following the discovery of a murdered 60-year-old woman’s body 500 meters from her homestead in a coffee plantation.
Esther Wambui Muthike was murdered and abandoned in the coffee plantation by unidentified individuals while she was returning home from a Kaharo trading center, according to Karia Sub-location Assistant Chief Joseph Muriithi Githinji.
“I came here right away after receiving word from my two elders and saw the lifeless body of a Wambui that I know well,” Chief Muriithi said to Citizen Digital.
Muriithi added that nothing was stolen from the woman.
“The suspects wanted only to kill because even her Ksh.1500 is still in her pocket,” he said.
According to the deceased’s sister Mary Wamwirua, they were informed about her death by her neighbour who stumbled upon her body as she had gone to collect firewood last night.
“I was shocked to see my sister Wambui killed and the cabbages she gone to buy scattered,” Wamwirua said.
Kahiro residents say the incident is not first to be witnessed in the area.
“Last year a police officer who hails from this village was murdered just like this, people should give information to police to enable arrest the culprits,” Patrick Gatimu said.
The deceased’s body was taken to Kerugoya Hospital mortuary awaiting post mortem.
Ndia Sub-County commander Moses Koskei confirmed the incident, saying police had launched investigations into the matter. He urged members of the public to volunteer useful information to police.
