Politician Heckled at Funeral While Defending President Ruto
While defending the policies of President William Ruto, Kinyoro Member of County Assembly Andrew Kibet from Trans Nzoia County was heckled on Saturday during a funeral.Kibet had just entered the platform to rally supporters of the Kenya Kwanza government. Things did not, however, proceed as expected when the locals began yelling at him to get off the podium.
The MC stepped in due to the course events had taken, but this did not placate the infuriated citizens who were intent on seeing the politician leave the gathering.”My job is to keep my President safe. Directing his ire at Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, the furious MCA said, “MP Caleb Amisi (Saboti)respect the President of Kenya.”Kibet assailed local leaders, claiming they were defaming Ruto and destroying the Head of State’s standing with the people. Amisi was specifically criticized by the MCA for this.
He emphasized that Ruto should be regarded as President. The people were displeased by this comment and interrupted him.The MCA was forced to hurl insults at one of the leaders when he got up and was seen raising his hands in the air in dismay.”I am the President’s MCA, sit down and let me finish my speech,” said Kibet. In the meantime, accusations of dishonesty regarding the State of the Nation—specifically, the condition of the nation’s economy—came from people in the background.MP Amisi of Saboti, for his part, claimed that the MCA was assaulting him.
Amisi added that Kibet arrived at the scene with a group of rowdy youth to disrupt the function.”The people of Saboti have told those being sent by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) to frustrate me to try everywhere. Trying to mobilise and incite a peace-loving community against me will not work,” he stated.Amisi had earlier warned President Ruto against giving false promises to the people of Saboti.Meanwhile, Kibet is among the several politicians who have been booed on stage while defending the government.
When describing the steps President Ruto took to improve the economy and reduce living expenses, Kitui Central residents heckled EAC Cabinet Secretary Peninah Malonza in December. The locals urged her to take a seat, claiming that the administration had broken its pledges to the people who supported President William Ruto’s election. Some of the leaders of the Kenya Kwanza government have encountered criticism from Kenyans throughout the nation in the year since Ruto’s unmet promises.
