On Wednesday, January 10, a collision near Karai on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway claimed the lives of twenty-five persons.A private van struck a matatu carrying students from Njonjo Girls’ High School who were returning to class, according to a police complaint.

Three pupils were among the twenty-five injured, according to Naivasha Assistant Police Commander James Ooro, and they were taken to the Naivasha Level Four Hospital after suffering fractures. Ooro went on to say that the van driver was at fault because he attempted to pass at the incorrect time along the road.

“All those involved in the accident are in stable condition while the wreckage of the vehicles has been towed to the police station,” Ooro stated. The superintendent at the Naivasha Hospital, Bernard Warui assured that the 25 were in stable condition.

This incident occurs one day after eight students were hurt when a lorry collided with the matatu they were riding in near Lari on the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway, injuring several more pupils. The injured were given first assistance at the scene of the accident and then sent to nearby hospitals, according to a report from St. John’s Ambulance.

A 14-seater matatu and a bus were involved in a collision on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway on Tuesday that resulted in the deaths of 15 individuals. The bus driver was at fault for the careless overtaking that resulted in the head-on collision with the matatu, according to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

The NTSA declared, “All efforts are underway to apprehend the bus driver, who is currently at large.”Due to horrific incidents occurring on key thoroughfares, drivers are being advised to exercise additional vigilance by the National Police Service (NPS) and the NTSA.
