Gov’t orders forensic scrutiny of KCPE results for 2023
The ICT Ministry has reportedly been contacted for a forensic examination on the KCPE 2023 results, according to Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.Machogu made the remarks during his appearance in front of the National Assembly’s Education committee in the Nairobi County Hall Mini Chambers.
This comes after candidates’ and parents’ complaints regarding the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education results (KCPE). The complainants filed a lawsuit because they wanted to know how their children were scored and marked by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC).
Already, Machogu says 1,043 complaints have been lodged and 871 resolved so far.“The Kenya Examination Council realised the mess and issued a statement. Up to December 6, the council realised 133 anomalies from 77 schools. Several have been flagged off,” he said.
The Education CS also mentioned that they have identified and resolved a few instances of human mistake.According to Machogu, the government has implemented policies for efficient exam administration and grading.”A contract was awarded to an outsider, but he did not follow the guidelines. We will need to devise new methods in the future. I must be convinced that doing the same won’t harm us. According to Machogu, this will begin with the KCSE and KAPSEA scores.
