In reaction to a wall fall at Coast Girls High School that interfered with the administration of the current Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams, Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir dispatched rescue teams on Wednesday.The governor verified in a statement that the county’s fire and rescue squad had already been sent to the location to put safety precautions in place and guarantee the security of the remaining buildings.
The Governor also revealed that no casualties had been reported.
“I urge parents to remain calm as our engineers work to give a report on the way forward,” the Governor said in a statement.

Governor Nassir was taken to the scene by Mvita MP Mohamed Machale. Students in form four are taking their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams at the moment. The last day of the tests is set for November 24, 2023. Furthermore, this occurs at the same time as Mombasa County is still experiencing a lot of rain, which has impacted countywide activity.
A week prior, just minutes after a student completed her tests for the day, severe rains were alleged to have killed her.On Friday, November 17, 2023, in the evening, the 19-year-old candidate who was enrolled in Kajembe High School in Msambweni was electrocuted while returning home.
The student told the authorities that because of the continuous flooding, they were forced to walk down tiny paths that were flooded with runoff.According to witnesses, the student was fatally electrocuted after she unintentionally stepped on a part where electric wires were dangling.
