Truck Rolls Over on Busy Road in Nyandarua, Reporting Deaths
On Saturday, three people from the Kinangop neighborhood of Makungi in Nyandarua County perished after a truck lost control on the Ol Kaou-Njabini Road.
Seven additional passengers in the car suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision.
The timber-transporting truck veered off the road and collided with the curb. The impact of the crash left the wood strewn over the road.
Witnesses claimed that the truck was racing to get the lumber to a residence nearby. According to rumors circulated by Grapevine, the car was stopped by police trying to enter a Kenya Forest Service (KFS) property.
Residents rushed to the scene of the accident to rescue the victims while police manned the traffic thereafter.
Additionally, some well-wishers residents attempted to load back the timber inside the truck and push the truck down the main road.
In another incident, a driver in Kisii County lost control of his car, killing everyone inside, resulting in the deaths of two pupils. The two female students were scheduled to start college.
These are a few of the many incidents that have been reported for January, in which over thirty Kenyans have died and several others have suffered serious injuries.
As of January 7, the majority of deaths were caused by pedestrians, according to data from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).
Pedal cyclists, drivers, passengers, and pillion riders were the next most affected road users, followed by motorcyclists.
There had been 508 documented road accident victims as of January 7. Of these, the bulk (234), the slightly injured (190), and the deceased (84), were classified as seriously injured.
