Transition of 2023 KPSEA Candidates to Grade 7 Commences
1,282,574 applicants in all who took the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) in 2023 are scheduled to enter junior school in Grade 7 as of right now. There is a special circumstance, though, since these students will transfer without being aware of their assessment results because the anticipated release in conjunction with the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) has not occurred.
The majority of the 1,415,315 candidates who took the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams have already received their results. Additionally, approximately 2,000 learners who did not sit for the KCPE exams are also set to join Form One, with supplementary tests planned for January.
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu said that 9,354 learners did not sit for the KCPE exam, and just 2,000 candidates had been located and will be permitted to attend Form One. He made it clear that these students will take further exams in January.
Logistically speaking, the Ministry of Education’s official school calendar states that primary and secondary schools will reopen on January 8, 2023. Students in Form One and Grade Seven are expected to report to class.
CS Machogu has issued specific instructions for the implementation of Grade Seven and Eight learners:
1. All candidates who sat for the 2023 KPSEA should be allowed to join Grade 7 in the Junior Secondary Schools hosted by their respective primary schools.
2. Grade 7 learners will utilize classrooms previously used by the current Grade 8 learners in 2023.
3. Grade 7 learners can attend school in the uniforms they used while in Grade 6 in 2023, with parents making efforts to acquire new outfits for Junior Secondary School (JSS).
4. Grade 8 learners will use classrooms left vacant by the last cohort of Standard 8 candidates who sat the KCPE exam in 2023.
5. Schools are instructed not to ask parents to construct new classrooms for the current Grade 8 candidates.
The KPSEA results will be made available to schools via an online site by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC), where they may be downloaded and printed in certificate form. The KPSEA did not include components of creative writing like as English composition and Kiswahili Insha; instead, it evaluated five subjects: mathematics, English, Kiswahili, Integrated Science, and Social Studies.
This program, in spite of several obstacles, shows the government’s dedication to offering educational opportunities and tracking learners’ progress using a variety of assessment techniques.
