A well-known supermarket company has addressed a widely shared comment criticizing President William Ruto’s Cabinet Secretaries for claiming credit for lowering living expenses while promoting their maize flour.The retail giant insisted that the comment did not come from its offices in a statement dated Monday.

Kenyans were thus advised to disregard the widely shared viral statement, which stated that any pertinent information would be shared on the company’s official social media accounts.”Avoid false information! Part of the statement said, “The above message is false and should be ignored.”

Following Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi’s tour to numerous Nairobi supermarkets to demonstrate to Kenyans that the government had, in fact, lowered the cost of living, the phony statement became widely circulated.However, some Kenyans questioned why the tour was held amid the celebrations when the majority of supermarkets had already put their inventory on sale.

The 2 kilogram packet of flour that was being offered for Ksh139 was on sale,  and some of the packets were scheduled to expire within the month, according  to a spot check by Citizen TV. Linturi, however, insisted that Ruto’s industry initiatives were the reason for the  reduction in the Unga, pointing out that starting in February 2024, the majority of  the brands will trade for less than Ksh100. He went on to say that the country’s record-breaking harvests were caused by both short- and long-duration rainfall. ranging from above Ksh200 to Ksh130, depending on the brand.
