Raymond Omollo, principal secretary for interior affairs, stated that the government is keeping a close eye on the nation’s flood situation and will make sure that students, parents, and instructors can travel about the area safely and effectively once classes resume.

Omollo gave a safety assurance to students as they reported for the second term while speaking in Kisumu on Sunday.

“Enough safeguards have been put in place to ensure that pupils return to school without incident. We will collaborate with the ministry of education and all schools, and we will be continuously monitoring the situation,” stated Omollo.

Governor Stephen Sang of Nandi urged for long-term solutions that will allow inhabitants to settle without having to leave their homes during heavy rains, given the devastation caused by floods in the Nyanza area.

If there were safe places to live without having to worry about flooding, this area would have grown more. Sang stated, “We have to put forth effort and offer a long-term solution to these floods.

Senator Tom Ojienda of Kisumu, on his part, demanded that the region’s dams be completed in order to control flooding.

“We require a long-term fix for this region’s flooding problems. We will reach that long-term solution if we finish building the Soin dam and take additional steps to guarantee that we bank our water, according to Ojienda.

Kenya has experienced torrential rains since March, which caused widespread floods that resulted in the deaths of over 200 people and the displacement of tens of thousands.
